Plagueborn focuses cannot be upgraded in any way, but if it's good it can be worth a lot.

Focuses can have 2 mods on them - a Focus Core and an Inscription. Unfortunately, this only applies to focuses from Nightfall and EotN (and some special chests). Normally, a Focus from Factions or Prophecies (such as the Plagueborn) is not moddable. If it has an Inscription slot, it's moddable, otherwise it's not.

One of the common use for a wand+focus combo is the 40/40 set. HCT and HSR of primary attributes to 20/20 for wand and 20/20 for focus; combine together to equal 40/40.
Comes in very handy for fire Elementalist or Smiter running RoJ in VSF since they can have up to 3 RoJ on the skill bar at once and by the time they finish casting the 3rd RoJ, the other RoJs are ready to be cast again. |
